Doug Lawlyes founded the Lawlyes Law Firm in 2002. The firm primarily handles all types of criminal cases, and the firm also provides representation in personal injury cases.
The firm handles these cases in Champaign, Coles, Edgar, and Vermilion counties in Illinois. We have tried over 50 jury trials in these counties.

Doug graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1995 with a bachelor’s degree in Economics. After receiving his bachelor’s degree, Eastern offered him a position as a graduate assistant. He pursued his Master’s degree in Economics at Eastern until starting law school in 1997. He attended law school at the University of Missouri-Columbia, graduating in 2000.
Upon graduation, he clerked for the presiding judge of Vermilion County, IL, a Court of the Fifth Judicial Circuit. After clerking for a year, Doug took a position as an adjunct professor at the Indiana University-Kelly School of Business.
Doug is licensed to practice law in the state of Illinois. Additionally, he is licensed in the United States Tax Court and the following United States District Courts: Central District of Illinois, Southern District of Illinois, Southern District of Indiana, and Northern District of Indiana.
Sandra L. Lawlyes

Sandra Lawlyes was a prosecuting attorney for 22 years before joining Lawlyes Law Firm. She was an assistant state’s attorney in Vermilion, Clark, and Champaign counties in Illinois, and a deputy prosecutor in Marion County, Indiana.
For 19 of those years, she was in the Vermilion County State’s Attorney’s Office in Danville, Illinois, and she was the first assistant state’s attorney under two Vermilion County Sstate’s Attorneys. As a prosecutor, she tried 80 cases to verdict including several murder cases.

Sandra joined the Lawlyes Law Firm in 2017 and is now defending the rights of the accused in Illinois. In addition to her private practice, she has been a contract public defender in Fountain, Warren, and Vermillion counties in Indiana, has been appointed by the Court on several cases in Vermilion County, Illinois, and successfully secured acquittals in many major felony cases including murder. She has been successful in getting evidence suppressed in cases when the police have violated citizens’ constitutional rights. She is a member of the Capital Litigation Trial Bar in Illinois, the Indiana Public Defender Council, and the Illinois Public Defender Association.
Sandra practices primarily in Vermilion County Illinois, and Fountain, Warren, and Vermillion counties in Indiana. She handles all types of criminal cases from the most serious felonies down to misdemeanor and traffic offenses. She represents minors accused of crimes in the juvenile court system as well as parents involved in court through DCFS in Illinois and DCS in Indiana. In addition, she represents those who are seeking to expunge or seal previous criminal records.
Sandra and her husband, Doug, live in Westville with their three children.
